Needing desperately to support their families, a number of miners’ wives have formed a group called “Soma Artisans”. Working under the guidance of international designers, the women are creating beautiful, useful objects in traditional styles with a modern fair. Trough growing sales locally and internationally, the women will be able to earn a steady income while expanding the group to include a larger number of participants.

Recycled Plastic Totes from India

Developmentally disabled and blind women from India have woven these bags out of recycled plastic bottles made into a yarn.They are then purchased by One World Projects which is an organization that searches the world to find exclusive fair trade products. One World Projects goal is to provide those in developing countries with the opportunity for economic sustainability and self-determination.
